A Loudoun County school official says a middle school teacher charged with being drunk in public has resigned.
Wayde Byard, spokesman for Loudoun County Public Schools, says Radhakrishnan Sivaramapillai resigned Tuesday from his position at J. Michael Lunsford Middle School in South Riding. The physics teacher has denied being drunk and says he plans to fight the charge against him.
Kraig Troxell, spokesman for the county sheriff's office, says Sivaramapillai drew the attention of fellow school personnel after he appeared to be intoxicated in class on Monday. The sheriff's office says Sivaramapillai was found to be under the influence of alcohol.
He was taken into custody and charged.
